Founded by Richard L. “Dick” Tate in 1985, for more than 30 years, Tate Moerer & King, LLP has represented clients in Fort Bend County in a wide-variety of matters, including partnership disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, breaches of contract, construction defects, injunctions, probate and probate litigation, guardianship litigation, real estate and business transactions, civil appeals, and personal jurisdiction challenges.

After graduating from The University of Houston School of Law in 1979, Dick Tate began his law career in the Houston office of Liddell Sapp, LLP. He moved his practice to Fort Bend County in 1985 and has more than 35 years of civil litigation experience, including representing both plaintiffs and defendants in trials, arbitrations, mediations and countless settlements. Dick is also a Certified Mediator.

A 1979 graduate of The University of Houston School of Law, Carl H. Moerer, Jr. has practiced in the areas of transactional law and probate for almost 40 years and is a Certified Mediator. Carl was Associate General Counsel for a Fortune 500 company and was a named partner in a Houston law firm for 15 years before moving his practice to Fort Bend County. After serving as a partner in the firm for 13 years, Carl became Of-Counsel to the firm in 2018.

A graduate of Baylor Law School, Elizabeth “Libby” King has more than 17 years of experience in civil litigation. Before moving back to her hometown of Richmond, Libby was an Associate Attorney in the Dallas office of Strasburger & Price, LLP.
